“Brandt Stickley has been an esteemed student and colleague for over a decade during which time he has demonstrated a grasp of my message that has illuminated my way to new and inspiring insights. While occupying his own growing special place in the continuum of Chinese medicine he is furthering my own contribution and is clearly in the tradition of creative and innovative minds such as my teacher, Dr. John H. F. Shen who I was blessed to follow.”

— Leon Hammer, MD

“Brandt has fundamentally changed the way I view and practice Chinese medicine. When we finished our first class, I realized I had been practicing a shell of what Chinese medicine could be, and from that point forward my trajectory, and the trajectory of my patients, has dramatically improved.”

— Robert Hoffman

“I’ve known Brandt as a close friend and colleague for many years now. His mind and heart are united in the quest to bring the teachings of Chinese medicine to the world as a universal healing source. Studying with Brandt is a unique and inspiring experience, as his broad base of intellectual knowledge East and West is breathtaking to behold. He has distilled this knowledge base through decades of teaching and clinical practice to the present, and has become one of the authorities on healing of the heart/mind, so essential in the chaotic, shattered world in which we inhabit at present.”

— Z’ev Rosenberg

“Brandt Stickley has been an innovating force amalgamating Dr. Hammer’s legacy. As an instructor and clinic supervisor at DRCOM, I have had the unique opportunity to witness Brandt evolve and integrate his own expansive knowledge and expertise over many years, in such a way that its vitality is catalytic and continues to shapeshifter the way I practice the medicine.”

— Vasanthi Vanniasingham, PhD (Contab.), Dipl. OM

Brandt works to demystify the classics and connect them to modern expressions of mental disharmonies. His engaging pedagogical interactions encourage students to reflect on what they have learned in the past and to create bridges to new ways of relating to the medicine. Brandt deeply leans into the medicine and transcends its potential for integrative use.

Brandt Stickley is one of the great minds in the American Creole of Chinese Medicine. He blends family traditions with an astute interplay of great thinkers East and West. This course will be fun, stimulating, and useful.

-Will Morris

“If you feel like the “shen calming” points and herbs you learned in TCM school are not quite enough for patients suffering with complex trauma, generalized anxiety, major depression, or other mental health diagnoses, this is the missing piece. Brandt’s teaching will enhance your clinical skills, enrich your theoretical understanding, and expand your sense of the possibilities of Chinese Medicine. Very likely, it will inspire you to reconnect with the reasons you set out to study Chinese Medicine in the first place. More than just another CEU, here you will learn a rigorous system of mind-body therapeutics rooted in the classics, one that is capable of addressing the mental health issues of modern patients and that leverages all the tools you already have at your disposal as an acupuncturist. Training with Brandt has enabled me to deliver transformative results for my patients, and I have no doubt it will be equally impactful for your practice. ”

— Joshua Park

“Brandt has been, hands-down, the most far-reaching and influential professor I have had during my formal studies of Chinese medicine. His abilities to intricately weave together seemingly unrelated topics into a singular tapestry of unity and connection to all life has never ceased to amaze me; nor has it ceased to expand the horizons of my inner practitioner's ability to see more wholly and fully .The impact that this has brought to me as a practitioner is invaluable. My practice of the medicine has been irrevocably changed for the better by the lessons that I have been taught by Brandt from my pulse palpation skills to my understanding of the Shang Han Lun. I cannot recommend his mentorship enough!

-Sapphyre Miria

“I have had the privilege of learning Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis, SHL/JGYL Formulas, Psychology, and Classical Chinese Physiology from Brandt Stickley. Indeed, these were my favorites classes during my Master’s in Chinese Medicine. I also recommend becoming a member of his Patreon, Heartdrops of Classical Chinese Medicine, where we have created a supportive community of students and practitioners with roots deep in the Classics. If anyone remembers the scene in Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams is telling Matt Damon that there is a stark difference between reading about the Sistine Chapel and being inside the Sistine Chapel, Brandt is the professor who will fly with you to Rome as your tour guide. This is no small feat, for in my opinion there has been a dearth of truly inspiring teachers during my time in higher education.”

“This two year opportunity is unparalled to anything else I’m aware of currently. Immensely forward thinking, immediately applicable and timely, while intimately and securely anchored in Brandt Stickley’s deep scholarship and understanding of the classics. While he emphasizes how any treatment and interaction should be elegant in its approach, and demonstrates precisely how this may be done, he instills this same elegance to interweaving systems of the human condition into his essential offering. The assertion of action as gesture within a non-pathologizing integral perspective of physiosemiotics, built up by Dr. Hammer’s model of pulse and the evolution of being, has richly informed not just my practice but in my living of this medicine. Chinese medicine at its roots remains a practice of navigating and maintaining the numinous - of understanding the dynamic directional movements and potential within and without. Brandt’s work gets the heart of this. I highly recommend, if you have the opportunity, to not miss this offering. ”

To be a responsible and effective medical provider in the modern era of Western civilization requires a deep familiarity with, and understanding of, the psyche (“psyche” in Greek means soul, spirit, or invisible animating entity which occupies the physical body); and this understanding must be able to see past the popular diagnoses many patients bring with them to the clinic, either given by another provider or self-labeled from exposure to social media, through to the underlying principles of relationship, being and creation; manifesting as archetypes which we, in our pride, are all to quick to label as disease. The frameworks of classical lineages of Chinese Medicine provide not only a method to understand these phenomena intellectually, but also for the provider to directly experience and embody them, ultimately to walk in the world in a way that leads communities towards health merely by exisiting within them. Of course you could also recommend herbal formulas or acupuncture; and with a deeper understanding of the poetry of formulas or the network of rivers of qi as it relates to the mind, become very successful. Few providers understand these mechanics well enough to be effective clinicians in this regard, let alone teach others to do it. Brandt is a scholar physician here without equal. Anyone who commits to studying with him, unpacking and exploring the world of the psyche and the ways in which Chinese medicine understands it, will find themselves transformed in their practice and their lives.”

— Brehan Crawford

“Brandt Stickley is one of the few people who have lineage based and living knowledge of Chinese Medicine and at the same time possesses the art of wisdom teaching. He brings ancient texts alive that reach directly into our clinics and provides tangible care for people in real time. He is a treasure in our field.”

I first took a Shen-Hammer pulse class with Brandt in February of 2020. I had taken Shen-Hammer classes with other teachers and wanted to deepen my studies. After the first day of the four day class, I was hooked and blown away. Brandt’s depth of understanding of pulse taking, Shang Han Lun herbal formulas, acupuncture, and how to tie it all together in a meaningful treatment for a patient, taking into account every nuance of the patient’s life, including the mental/emotional picture, is like no other practitioner/teach our there. I soon joined his Patreon study group and it was the best thing I ever did. The way Brandt connects Chinese Medicine to everything is astounding. I’ve become a better practitioner because of him. His Patreon also fosters the best supportive community that I can always turn to with questions and difficult cases. ”
